...is to equip and empower one million children with the mental resilience and confidence to live a happy life and make this world kinder.
We can't achieve this alone, nor would we want to. We know that caring parents, teachers, and mentors make the best guides on the path to wisdom, so we wish to put our tools into the best hands...yours!
The Power of Stories
Did you know that our brains are wired to respond to a story differently from hearing an instruction or a fact?
Listening to a story simultaneously switches several parts of the brain: thinking, communication, problem-solving and critical thinking.
So, without nagging, lecturing, or preaching, you can plant ideas, explore tricky topics, and change perceptions simply by reading or listening to a Wise for My Size storybook.
Lorna and Jac are twin sisters who between them have over 47 years experience working with children and their parents.
They share a passion for supporting children to reach their fullest potential by harnessing their unique and special gifts.
They have combined their knowledge, skills and expertise to create this special library of mindset books and coaching certification.
When not writing and coaching you will find them usually on a dog walk enjoying the beautiful Scottish Countryside.
…there were twin sisters who had vivid imaginations; they spoke their own made-up language and preferred to be in their imaginative world because they were incredibly shy.
They loved nothing better than a good book and would spend hours hiding in a den listening to books and making up their own stories.
Despite being labelled daydreamers, poor spellers, and too shy, they both knew they wanted to grow up and make a difference in the world.
Of course, everyone told them they couldn't do that by writing books, so the twins believed this and began to look elsewhere to make their mark.
they could overcome their shyness if it meant helping others. So Jac pursued a career in teaching, and Lorna pursued a career in Children's Occupational Therapy.
The sisters embraced their roles with passion, commitment, and enthusiasm and worked hard over many years to be the best they could be. Every day they turned up wanting to help, to do more, and to make a difference. One day the tools they both had were just not making as big of an impact. Many children were in pain, not believing in themselves, lacking confidence, and worrying.
One day all the skills they had needed to be more. The sisters dug deeper, compared notes, and asked what are we missing? What can we do?
The sisters knew there had to be a way to help children discover their incredible uniqueness, believe in themselves and be confident.
Then they remembered their love of stories. How stories, fun, and play were the only way children learn.
They decided to create a new way to coach children to be happy, confident, and kind, as this felt more important than anything else.
The sisters got out their notepads and began writing a library of stories to help children become Wise for their Size.
The Worry was written to coach children who can feel worried or anxious, learn how to find courage, confidence and curiosity so that they can handle any worries in their life
Ntombi’s Path was written to coach children who are fearful to try new things, learn to overcome that fear and stretch out of their comfort zone, so that nothing holds them back
I-Can’t-Harry was written to coach children who do not believe in their own abilities or speak unkindly to themselves to learn to boost their self-confidence by quietening the mean things they say about themselves (shade-talk) and turning up the volume of their kind words (shine-talk), to face life with confidence and a can-do mindset.
Ayaan and the Camel was written to coach children who do not believe in themselves, learn how to re-write their hold-me-back-beliefs so that nothing stands in their way.
Cass and the Little Flower was written to coach children who are feeling overwhelmed and overtaken by their senses, learn what they need to feel just right and thrive!
Mei-Ling's Lemon Tea was written to coach children about their energy and how to renew and protect their energy levels. By learning how to put their own needs first they will learn that they can do all the things they want to do, have to do and need to do.
Captain RAS in Be Careful What You Wish For! was written to coach children to learn that focusing on the problem just gets you more problems; but when you learn to look for the positives, solutions show up.
Michael's Many Mistakes was written to coach children to realise that when a mistake has been made, they can forgive themselves, learn from it and move on.
Captain RAS to the Rescue was written to coach children who want to achieve a 'BIG Dream' or goal to learn how to be solution focused and keep their minds open to opportunity and possibility.
We take inspiration from the stories we write from the real-life struggles and challenges we see the children facing.
We consider the coaching skills we want to convey, and the story comes from that.
We work with amazing illustrators, and our graphic designer, Mark, makes everything look gorgeous.
